Miss and Mister Supranational 2026 Attend Seminar on Hansen’s Disease

Miss and Mister Supranational 2026 took part in a special seminar organised in cooperation with the Sasakawa Foundation, focusing on Hansen’s disease and the social challenges faced by people affected by it.

The meeting highlighted an important message: being cured should never mean being excluded. Although Hansen’s disease is treatable, many people continue to experience stigma, discrimination and social isolation long after completing their treatment.

The seminar encouraged greater understanding, compassion and awareness, while emphasising the need to protect the dignity and rights of those affected by the disease. Through their participation, the Miss and Mister Supranational representatives helped draw attention to the importance of building a more inclusive society in which recovery is followed by acceptance, opportunity and full participation in community life.

The final steps towards ending stigma begin with education, open dialogue and a commitment to ensuring that no one is left behind.
